Adopt an Animal
We invite you to our shelter to find and adopt an animal that will become a wonderful pet and companion. Once you've completed the adoption process, you will be taking home an animal that has been health-checked by our clinic. Adopted dogs and cats will have been vaccinated and spayed or neutered. They will also be microchipped which greatly improves the chances of a lost animal being returned to its owner.
Microchipping of pet cats and dogs is available to the public for a fee. Please call (530) 241-1653 for more information.

SHELTER CATS COUNT! Colonel Chesty Cat reminds you that May to October marks kitten season, and at Haven Humane Society, CATS COUNT! The shelter receives more than 2000 adoptable cats and kittens each year. Our staff works diligently to place these felines in "forever homes." Sadly, this isn't always accomplished. You can help alleviate pet overpopulation by spaying or neutering your pets and encouraging others to do the same. Click here to print a CATS COUNT brochure. You can also give a kitten a fighting chance by fostering it in your home until its old enough to be adopted. |
BECOME A FOSTER PARENT
The shelter receives many litters of kittens during kitten season. Some of these kittens are too young to place up for adoption right away and benefit from going into a foster home for a short time. If you can take one or more kittens into your home for a few months, contact our Foster Program Coordinator at (530) 241-1653. Some kittens come with a mother who will do most of the work taking care of the kittens.

Your adoption fee includes a health examination, spay or neuter surgery, heartworm or FELV/FIV testing, rabies and other vaccinations, deworming, flea preventative treatment, a microchip, and a bag of pet food. As an adoption package, the cost is significantly less than what you would pay if you took home a "free" animal and had these services performed at another veterinarian office.
You may complete an adoption application form in advance and bring it with you to the shelter. Please use the appropriate form for a dog, cat or other animal. Forms are also available at the shelter.
