Haven Connects with Project Homeless Connect

Each year, Haven Humane Society attends Project Homeless Connect at the Civic Center.  In 2012, veterinarians performed 202 pet exams, and gave out 58 vouchers for free spay/neuters.  We gave away 150 bags of pet food and held 116 dogs and 12 cats in our mobile adoption unit while their owners sought services inside the building.  Haven Humane Society has taken part in this event for the past 3 years and is pleased to offer these services to pet owners who would not otherwise seek them.

April 8, 2013 to June 10, 2013 - 6:00 & 7:00 PM

Fun N Fancy Dog Training with Judy Brown

Judy holds three traditional training classes on Mondays -- Puppy Class, Beginning Obedience, and Advanced Obedience.

Puppy Class is 6 weeks long at 6:00 PM and includes walking on a leash, off, leave it, wait, sit, down, as well as addressing any individual problems.  Puppy class is $80.  Puppies must have had at least two vaccinations, plus a Bordatella vaccine.  Puppies must be between 8 weeks and 5 months old.  (May 27 is a holiday)

Beginning Obedience is nine weeks long at 7:00 p.m.   This class teaches heel, sit, down, stand for examination, come, stay at a sit for 1 minute and at a down for 3 minutes, as well as addressing any individual problems.  $95.  Dogs must be at least 5 months old. (May 27 is a holiday)

Advanced Obedience is a nine week course.  The course includes all beginning exercises done off leash and starts teaching retrieving and jumping, and stay off leash at a distance of 40 feet.  $95.  Class time will be announced if there is enough interest.

Bring a pocket full of goodies your dog REALLY likes and be prepared to have fun with your pet.

Camp Love A Pet

Children ages 10-15 learn to train, groom, and treat companion animals humanely. Camp includes several field trips and demonstrations by dog groups. Cost is $300.

Dog A Thon & WestMuttster Show

We have fun events such as Splash Dogs and a lure course for pets and their people to enjoy, as well as the WestMuttster competition show and lots of vendors with products for pets and people.  There will be raffles and contests to enter with fabulous prizes.  Walk for the animals and raise money for the shelter by registering yourself or a team for the walk.  Print registration forms from our homepage using the links under the Dog A Thon poster.

Bark & Wine

Enjoy wine tasting, paired with breads, cheese, and hors d’ouvres in the beautiful banquet room of the Red Lion Hotel.  Compete for some fabulous items in the live and silent auctions.   Tickets to the event are $35 each.     Raffle tickets will be available for a grand prize drawing.  Need not be present to win.
