Foster Homes Save Lives

Each year we need foster homes for kittens during the months between March and October. The foster commitment ranges from a few weeks to 3 months and could be just kittens or kittens with a nursing mother. If you would like to be a foster parent, please call 241-1653.

Taffy and her 5 kittens were fostered for 3 months then all 6 went to their forever homes.

Ahhh, comfy!
Give a shelter dog a comfy Kuranda bed. We are close to having a Kuranda bed in every dog kennel at Haven. If you'd like to help provide a bed, you may donate to our dog bed fund by mailing a donation to Haven marked as "Kuranda," or buy a bed online at www.kuranda.com/donate/8204. You'll see Haven's wish list for small, medium, and large Kuranda dog beds. They are chew resistant and very easy on old bones. Beds will be shipped directly to Haven Humane and can be purchased in honor of a pet-lover in your life who will receive a notice of your gift.

Help end pet overpopulation in Shasta County!

Between January and October of 2012, 1370 stray cats and kittens were surrendered to Haven Humane Society and 91 kittens were born in the shelter to pregnant surrendered cats. That is why the Shasta Animal Welfare Low Cost Spay/Neuter program is so important to our community. The fund provides financial assistance to dog and cat owners who would like to alter their pets but can't afford the entire cost of the procedure. So far, the SAWF fund has helped 420 pet owners prevent unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. This has become a popular fund in which to donate in honor of birthdays or other celebrations, or in memory of a pet. Your contribution to the SAWF fund has a direct impact on reducing euthanasia in the shelters by reducing the pet overpopulation in our county. Just click on the Make A Donation button to the left and type "SAWF Fund" in the PayPal notes. Make a donation and make a difference.
